It might seem strange that I’m doing this now, but my husband and I have been to several wakes lately, and it always makes me think of how amazing you were, and beautiful a job you did for my family. I miss my brother every day, and it’s so important to carry with me how caring your staff was, and how above and beyond you went to make that day such a special celebration of his life. I will cherish your kindness forever in my heart, and I tell everyone how grateful I am to your staff.

I loved our idea of having a magic drawer at my father’s wake, and I know he would have loved that too. I will never forget how you went to Emerson Hospital to talk to my father. Nor will I forget what good care you took of my father and “his Penny,” and for your understanding of how important it was to me. Also, I’ll never forget when you came to Rivercrest to get my mother. I never even really thought twice about leaving her care up to you, I just knew she was in excellent care! Thank you for all you and your staff did, from the bottom of my heart. I can honestly say, I would have never made it through TWO of the worst days of my life without all of you guiding us!

I wanted to take some time with such a tragic loss of my 29 year old daughter to tell you about the experience I had at Badger Funeral home. WOW! I have never in all my years experienced such professional care, guidance, love and pure from the heart the best experience I could ask for; for my daughter J. (despite it being our worst time ever!) Adam and his team could not have done a better job. I wanted the best for my daughter and I got pure perfection! From how the room was set up, how all her items were displayed to the printed material to all the guidance with the financial portion. Adam was kind, gentle, a pure perfectionist when it came to the care of my daughter, and her service and wake were exactly what we wanted; a celebration all about J. His team is A++ and I just love them for the job they did. From the slide show to the video to all our request with songs and I heard so many compliments I cannot even begin to thank you. As difficult as these last 8 days have been and will continue to be N. and I wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Everyone I spoke to said with genuine surprise, “I’ve never seen a service like this before. It’s beautiful.” The video slide show, the blown up pictures, even down to the gardening trowel as decoration. Our family did not ask for this, it was simply just done. You truly listen to the families you speak with and it shows in your work. My Papa could be particular about details, and he would have found no flaw in the job you did with his services. He knew the value of a job well done, and would want to commend you on your hard work. So, I am doing so now. Our family could not believe the amount of care and attention put into making this not just an event of great sorrow, but the celebration of an incredible life. Thank you so much. I’m sorry it took so long to write this note due to Mom’s medical emergencies, but we do want to thank you for your kindness while planning and conducting Dad’s wake and funeral. The military service graveside was very moving. Imagine our surprise when Mom received notification that a tree seedling had been planted as a memorial to Peter. You might be interested to know that I once worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Utah and Idaho. Dad enjoyed writing poetry and one poem was about the sequoia, a quiet witness to history and the human condition. So, although we won’t know what species of tree was planted in Dad’s name, we’ll imagine it as a sequoia that will grow for years and years, witness to many future generations.
